What is Radiofrequency-Microneedling?

Radiofrequency Microneedling is the combination of two proven techniques aimed at stimulating the body's own tissues to generate new collagen fibers. This is achieved through precise micro-perforations of the skin (Microneedling) and the delivery of a precisely measured radiofrequency pulse into the tissue. This stimulus encourages the formation of natural collagen structures in the skin.

How does Radiofrequency Microneedling work?

The handpiece of our Cynosure Potenza Radiofrequency Microneedling device is equipped with 21 to 49 insulated individual needles, depending on the selected treatment head. These needles are gold-plated for optimal energy delivery. The needles are insulated on the skin's surface to precisely position the delivered energy in the target area—the deeper layers of the skin.
Such a treatment head is a sterile disposable instrument and is renewed for each application. During the procedure, the needles penetrate the skin's surface like a stamp. The depth of penetration can be individually adjusted based on the area being treated, reaching up to 4 mm. Once the needles have penetrated to the specified tissue depth, a radiofrequency energy pulse is delivered, generating heat in the tissue and stimulating the body's natural repair and rebuilding processes. The energy flows only between two needles, constituting a "bipolar system." This advantageously ensures that the entire tissue volume between the needles is treated, preventing uncontrolled energy dissipation.

What can be achieved with Radiofrequency Microneedling?
This procedure can be applied all over the body to improve the elasticity and structure of the treated tissues. This results in skin tightening and rejuvenation, as well as subsequent reduction in pore size in the treated areas. The technique can be effectively used to treat scars and stretch marks.

Treatment Procedure

In a comprehensive consultation, we will first discuss your desires and expectations together. Following this, a detailed analysis of your current skin and tissue condition will be conducted, documented using our three-dimensional Vectra H2 system. Once all questions are clarified, the skin in the area to be treated will be cleansed and disinfected. Before the procedure, a local anesthetic cream will be applied. The treatment itself lasts between 20 and 60 minutes, depending on the scope. To conclude, a cooling and skin-soothing mask will be applied. After this, you are free to leave the practice.

After the treatment, the skin may feel tight and might be slightly reddened. The effect is comparable to a sunburn and usually subsides quickly. You will begin to notice the initial effects of the treatment within days, but the maximum impact of the procedure is based on stimulating the body's natural tissue regeneration. For this reason, there will be a continuous improvement in skin texture and firmness over several weeks. During the initial application of the procedure, three individual sessions should be scheduled at intervals of 6 to 8 weeks to achieve optimal results. The improvements achieved through RF-needling for scar treatment are permanent.

Before the treatment, as with any medical procedure, your written consent is required after all questions have been thoroughly answered. This includes clarifying whether there are any conditions that might prevent an RF-needling treatment, such as the presence of a pacemaker or other electronic or metallic implants in the treatment area. Please inform me during our personal conversation. Ideally, on the day of the treatment, do not apply any skincare products to the skin in the areas to be treated. If applied, these products will be removed in the clinic to ensure the skin can be disinfected, and applications can be performed under optimal hygienic conditions.

After the Treatment
Following an RF-needling treatment, avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, or sauna visits for at least 48 hours. Additionally, as is recommended for maintaining firm and healthy skin, it's advisable to use a good sunscreen. Due to possible skin irritations and minor bruising, it's recommended not to schedule important appointments where your appearance matters during the two to three days following a treatment.
