What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a component of our blood and, as the name suggests, contains a high concentration of special cells, known as "platelets." Additionally, it contains a large number of the body's own growth factors.

PRP is derived from the patient's blood, which is processed in a special centrifuge to separate its components. PRP is isolated from other blood cells and can then be reintroduced to the patient. This treatment exclusively uses substances from the patient's own body, eliminating the risk of allergies and intolerances.

Originally developed in orthopedics to stimulate cartilage regeneration in worn-out joints, PRP has shown excellent results. Its benefits for aesthetic medicine were recognized, leading to its widespread adoption.

What can be achieved by PRP treatments?

PRP treatments are not only suitable for facial skin tightening, but can also yield excellent results on the neck and décolleté.

After the procedure, a lifting and tightening effect develops, which can last up to a year and significantly improves the structure of the skin and underlying tissues. Wrinkles are reduced, the skin's texture is refined, and due to the stimulation of the body's own stem cells by PRP, the procedure can also be successfully used to promote hair growth in cases of genetically induced hair loss.
Treatment Procedure

In a detailed consultation, we will first understand your desires and expectations. Then, a thorough analysis of your current skin and tissue condition follows, documented using our three-dimensional Vectra H2 System. Once all questions are answered, a small amount of blood (20-40 ml) is drawn from a vein, which is then processed in our practice's laboratory. In the case of a broad treatment or the targeted injection of very sensitive skin areas, a local numbing cream can be applied before the procedure. Depending on the treatment goal, the PRP is then injected under the skin (e.g., under-eye circles, lip contours, etc.) or, in the case of desired firmness, worked into the skin extensively. The treatment itself lasts between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the scope. To conclude, a cooling and soothing mask is applied. After this, you can leave the practice. Depending on the type of treatment, skin irritations and, in the case of the highly recommended combination with needling, widespread redness of the skin are not uncommon. These usually subside quickly but can also last for several days. Please account for this effect.

You will start noticing the initial effects of the treatment after a few days, but the maximum impact is due to the stimulation of the body's own tissue regeneration. For this reason, a continuous improvement in skin texture and firmness occurs over several weeks. For the initial application of the procedure, three individual sessions should be planned at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks to achieve an optimal result. The effect of a PRP treatment typically lasts about 12 months on average. A follow-up treatment after the initial series should be done after 9 to 12 months. Generally, a single refreshment is sufficient at that point.

Before and After the Treatment

Before the Treatment
Before the treatment, as with any medical procedure, your written consent is required after all questions have been thoroughly answered. This also includes determining if there are any circumstances that might prevent a PRP treatment, such as taking blood thinners, higher doses of cortisone treatments, or certain skin conditions. Please inform me during our personal conversation. Ideally, do not wear makeup on the day of the treatment; otherwise, it will be removed in the office to allow for skin disinfection and applications under optimal hygienic conditions.

After the Treatment
After a PRP treatment, avoid sunbathing, tanning beds, or sauna visits for at least 48 hours. Additionally, as is recommended for maintaining vital and firm skin, using a good sunscreen is advisable. Due to possible skin irritations and minor bruises, avoid scheduling any important appointments for the two to three days following the treatment, especially if you need to look your best.

Reviews
This is what our patients say on Jameda
"Top Care! Very detailed and informative documents for body analysis! Informative and motivating conversation. The procedure was painless, well taken care of. Days after, no pain, already less hungry. I can only recommend this practice!"
"I was at the clinic for the second time today and felt very well taken care of again. I was thoroughly advised, and all my questions were answered very empathetically. I am (again) very, very satisfied with the results of the treatment."
"I came to Schuhmann Aesthetics through an acquaintance. I was very unhappy with my nose. Due to a nasal bone fracture in my youth, I have always had a slight bump. But I don't want surgery. The possibility with hyaluronic acid is simply amazing. My nose is so beautiful now. No bump is visible anymore. I was warmly welcomed, and I didn't have to wait long. The hygiene is flawless, as it should be, clean! Ultra-modern. Top, professional."
"Both the consultation and the stomach Botox treatment were very professional. I felt comfortable and well taken care of the entire time. I would do it again anytime and can highly recommend the practice. I can't say anything about the results yet, as the procedure was yesterday. Experience report will follow. However, I am very convinced that the success will come because the support does not end with the treatment. You are constantly accompanied in the weight loss process with additional appointments for weighing and measuring, as well as telephone consultations if you need general help. I am glad to have found such a practice and am looking forward to my new body and sense of life."

Special Applications for Men

Naturally, men also benefit from PRP treatments. The focus here is primarily on skin tightening and improving the skin's overall texture. However, what may be particularly interesting for our male patients is the treatment of genetically induced hair loss – we provide detailed information about this on a separate page.

Expert tip

„Not only wrinkles but also enlarged pores and declining skin elasticity contribute to our visual aging process. A perfectly sculpted face with 'aged' skin can quickly appear 'artificial.' Consider this if you desire a natural look and opt for a holistic approach using all available treatment methods."
